Caractère was created by the Miroglio group in the mid-Nineties; their collections are crafted to serve the successful and sensual woman who embraces the rule of femininity with a creative touch. The lines, fabrics, design and irreplaceable details offer endless allure to the Caractère woman.
The Spring/Summer 2016 collection is inspired by the retro-chic style of the 1950’s, expertly mixing in current on-trend tribal influences. The collection has a focus on colour which will take you on a journey from the pastel shades of spring, to classic black and white embellished with emerald tones, royal blue and red detailing, as well as the vibrant colours of summer - shades of mustard, ochre and ruby, recalling warm climates and desert scenes.
The 1950’s were a breakthrough time for fashion – an innovative vision that the Caractère designers share. During the fashion surge of the fifties, clothes were made to cater for the tastes of younger women with a big move towards glamour and style. Stand out silhouettes include the ‘fit and flare’ and the slim tubular or pencil skirt, both placing great emphasis on the narrowness of the waist for a wonderfully feminine shape. Caractere has taken key elements from vintage icons as a basis of their inspiration. Pay attention to the modest styling of the necklines and dress lengths while injecting fresh colours and smart details. We stock a range of the newest Caractère collection in sizes 10-18.
The Caractère Paneled Dress is a playful fit and flare in black with aqua on the reverse. Subtle diagonal seams, along with a full and floating skirt create a fun rock ‘n’ roll movement to this dress. The ever so slight cap sleeve is a nod to the retro-vibe and keeps things young and fresh so it’s a classic but fun addition to your own closet. This dress is imploring you to add your own twist with big earrings or your favourite statement necklace.
One of the prettier trends this season – pastels, has a minimal and sophisticated air. The Sheath dress has an apricot bodice and hem with a pale pink block in the skirt. Careful tailoring has created a beautiful but subtle hourglass shape through the contour of the sleeve to the nipped in waist. Simple accessories would take this lovely dress to the next level – perhaps a plain belt to accentuate the waist or a selection of tasteful jewellery. The dress is easily styled up for a smarter look. This outfit would stand out in the workplace for all the right reasons. The careful tailoring of the jacket ensures a level of modern-chic and looks gorgeous with the pale pink skirt – finish the overall ensemble with a pair of neutral heels and a statement necklace.
Another on trend pastel outfit is the Colour Block Dress with layers of sand, pale pink, rose pink and apricot. These soft shades blend easily and make for an organized ensemble. The lines between pieces are softer as compared bold colours, suitable for a gentle delicate look. This dress is made for a carefree stroll through the city while looking fresh and feminine.
Short Crepe Jacket in pale pink is truly vintage-esque, cropping in at the waist with a demure ¾ sleeve. The collar-less detail lends itself to being decorated with a string of pearls for an exquisite, glamorous retro look.
Caractère has explored prints this season, taking influence from the east with vibrant colours and determined styles. The Scarf Print Blouse is a silky woven fabric boasting strong blues, ivory and red in a large geometric pattern. It has beautifully knitted collar and cuffs for a touch of structured elegance. Pair this energetic shirt with a crisp white bottom for a fresh spring or summer look.
The Caractère Printed Tunic Top is a warmer look with a cream, green and terracotta print reminiscent of the hue of the desert. This look is feels like a spicy elegance with the soft silky woven fabric. Perfect for transitioning into autumn underneath a trendy trench coat or giving your winter outfit a warm glow.
Another example of tribal inspired prints is found in the Jacquard Fine Knit Cardigan. Its pale grey, navy and emerald knit design is a striking balance of cool colours and bold patterns. The kimono style cut results in a relaxed garment that is just right for covering up on cooler days. Use the bold print to break up an all-black outfit or style up your kimono jackets with a pair of skinny jeans, an elegant top and statement heels.
Another option is the Kimono Jacket in the more subtle black white and blue check. It’s the small details which make this piece notable – the black chiffon trim along the neckline and cuff and the Two in seam pockets with mock pocket flaps. The muted colours and more classical pattern doesn’t overwhelm but will impress when styled with other key elegant pieces. A white blouse and well fitted pencil skirt would pull together a lovely vintage inspired silhouette, perfect for the workplace.
The maritime style has stood the test of time as a classic, fun and fashionable look. The Stripe Knit Jumper is an instant hit at the seaside! Imagine a cheeky nautical theme with this jumper as the centrepiece. The bright white, deep red and rich blues contrast for a stunning and unique marine look. The patch pocket detail in front keeps it modern by mixing the stripe pattern for a contemporary look. For a charming outfit, pair it with the Caractère Navy Stretch Jersey Trouser. The ankle length slim leg is flattering and comfortable and the navy ties in nicely with the stripes on the back on the shirt.
