The first wedding event of the season and the first sunny day combined, what more could a girl ask for!
Chesca was invited to the picturesque conservatory to show their unique collection of top to toe outfits to prospective Mother of the Brides and Grooms, not forgetting our new bridesmaids range. We were proud to be the only brand selected for this category amidst the cakes, cars and confetti!
An idyllic country setting and fine weather greeted Sue, the manageress of our St Albans store, who was ready to share her experience based on her many years advising people what to wear at their own special events. Ivory gowns jostled with a cornucopia of mocha, steel, coral, blue chiffon and lace, in fact all the colours of the rainbow to suit each and every prospective theme, including one very untraditional goth wedding. The bride to be was to wear BLACK, as were her bridesmaids and mother-in-law! Fortunately, we had remembered to bring some little black dresses (well, actually, long black dresses) to suit all of their styles.
Mind you, most of the groups in this dazzling setting were enthusiastic about more traditional colours and this season’s nudes and neutrals, aware that those pictures would be displayed for a lifetime in pride of place on the mantelpiece! Following that special wedding one year ago, where the bridesmaids and Pippa Middleton wore white, we were amazed at how many chose ivory as their theme.
Sue’s Tips: Those photos take ages standing in glamorous shoes, so take care to buy comfortable footwear, like our ivory lace heels, and wear them a couple of times at home to ensure a natural smile for posterity!
That mother chose deep pink for her outfit, whereas the first group had a blue theme and the mother of the bride chose a floaty navy embroidered dress for her daughter’s blue themed wedding. She told us about the mountain of paper flowers she had been making for the last few months and proudly produced a picture of all the flowers she had made which we matched with a little navy floral fascinator!
Throughout the day we spoke to many prospective mother of the brides/grooms, all very excited about the big day but unsure about what to wear, what menu to choose and even, where to book the honeymoon. So we had a lot of fun guiding and advising how to make the most of the day in a way to make the ladies feel beautiful without breaking the bank!
Sue’s Tips: Bring a camera to the next event and notebooks/pens/scissors to take swatches so that you can remember your choices.
This was the first of many wedding events; we had so much fun chatting about each of your weddings and helping these special people pick their perfect outfit.
